About Dr. R. P. Deo
Dr. Ravi Deo did his MBBS from Government Medical College, Jabalpur and then went on to his master’s in general surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai. It was during his tenure as senior resident at Tata Memorial that he developed a keen interest in the field of Head & Neck Surgery which lead him to obtain a Diploma in the same at the prestigious institute Gustave Roussy in Paris, France where he also worked as a consultant.
On his return to India, Dr Deo established the first exclusive Head & Neck Oncology Dept. at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore in 1985. He subsequently established the Dept. of surgical oncology in Manipal Hospital Bangalore where he is currently a consultant. He is also attached to B D Rudrappa head & neck Centre, Bangalore and Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, Patna. He is also a consultant surgeon at Aster & HAL Hospital.
Dr.Deo is interested in teaching and academics. Apart from giving numerous lectures and orientation he has also conducted live surgical demonstrations at clinical meetings within the country and abroad.
Dr Deo was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award in 1996 and the KempeGowda Award in 2006 for his co0nteibutions to the field of Head & neck surgery in India.
