Dr. Pramod‘s graduation and post graduation are from the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore [Manipal University]. He had a Fellowship at the Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery under Prof Robert W. Pho in the National University Hospital, Singapore. He also served in the Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology at the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy under Prof MarioMercuri and Dr Marco Manfrini.

His Key areas of work are :

  • Biologic tumor reconstruction with Allografts
  • Joint & Growth preservation in tumour surgeries using the latest imaging modalities
  • Computer Assisted Tumour Surgery [CATS] Allografts & Non-invasive Expandable prosthesis.
  • Regenerative therapy which involves the mesenchymal stem cell, platelet rich plasma, etc

Dr Pramod started the musculoskeletal oncology program in HCG in 2010. Since then, the department has managed more than 4000+ bone tumours and operated more than 900 surgeries in the last 9 years. The department also works on the Sarcoma multidisciplinary management MDT. Through Various Foundations and Philanthropists more than 100 underprivileged sarcoma cases have been treated in the department.

The outcomes are comparable to the world standards and some cases even more with personalised medicine. The results have been presented in various international conferences. The important milestones in the department are:

  • Extensive use of massive allograft with close co-operation with Istituto Ortopedico rizzoli and Prof Marco Manfrini
  • The first in India, use of Computer assisted Tumour Surgery [CATS] with Dr KC Wong from HongKong.

The vision of the department is to establish a National Sarcoma Centre of Excellence.
